General information on organization
The UNESCO Center for Non-formal education of Vietnam (UCNEV) is a non- government organization founded in 1993.
The purpose of UCNEV is to provide assistance to non- formal education activities in Viet Nam, consisting of literacy, post- literacy, refresher courses, education from a distance, training and in service training for adolescents, youth and adults on educational fields as health, social evils, gender equality, HIV/AIDS, income generating and community development, etc. In all activities, UCNEV is especially concerned with providing opportunities to study for women and girls, for ethnic minorities and for the disadvantaged.
On community development.
a. Some activities on gender and community development as follows:
· Designing and implementing the projects on literacy and post- literacy for women of ethnic minorities (for example: Muong, Thai, Dao, Tay, H’Mong, Pa Then…).
- Training traditional vocation for ethnic women and girls.
- Educating and communicating on Drug prevention and control for ethnic and rural women.
- Compiling and providing some materials on reproductive health, prevention of sexual abuse to adolescents and youth.
- Implementing the project of educating reproductive and sexual health for ethnic adolescents and youth.
- Evaluating the projects carried out by ActionAid and World Vision in Vietnam by Reflect Approach and Active learning for primary teachers.
- Educating and training vocation for girls who are children of the people living with AIDS.
b) Those activities belong to the following fields:
Gender, Social evils prevention, health care, education and training, community development and poverty reduction, children care.
c) The above activities had been implemented at community level and especially for ethnic women.
