RESEARCH CENTER FOR GENDER,

FAMILY AND ENVIRONMENT IN DEVELOPMENT

 

CGFED is an NGO established in May, 1993. As an independent research Centre, its function is to study on gender, family and environment issues in Vietnam from the perspective of human development, with a multi-disciplinary profile.

The Centre is a non-profit and non-governmental organization operated by voluntary scholars and researchers of various disciplines.

 

Activities of the Centre:

1. Conducting fundamental research on the problems of Gender, Family and both social and natural Environment in Development perspective, and the interaction of these issues, applying inter-disciplinary method. The target groups of the research are women and men at all ages.

2. Applying technological and theoretical results and advances of scientific research into problems of Gender, Family and Environment for the service of national development, and involvement in strategies for socioeconomic and cultural development and environmental improvement.

3. Organizing workshops, seminars and training courses at different levels for various groups of participants, especially for people at local communities.

4. Publishing research and intervention results to disseminate information on issues related to gender, reproductive health and rights, family and environment. A documentation centre is running to serve the research work and also the purpose of information dissemination.

CGFED has been establishing relationships with numerous national and international organizations and agencies, as well as with scientists from government and non-government sectors in different activities (research collaborating, training...)

Missions

1.      Training young researchers to be competent scientists who would be able to pursue the research work (theoretical and applied research) for social and economic development.

4.      Providing efficient data for national policy design focusing on gender- based issues.

5.      Improving awareness of gender for both women and men in order to establish equal relationships.

6.      Establishing a model of scientific activities of an NGO in relation to the Government: NGOs should become informational and advisory resources.

7.      Mobilizing intellectual forces of the private sector and attracting its participation for the development of society.
