THE INSTITUTE’S ORGANISATION

Presently, CISDOMA employs 29 research cadres and 30 collaborators who are scientists of state and social management field; leading specialists of fields such as: economic, finance, banking, statistics, agriculture, forestry, sea-marine, environment, energy, gender, ethnology, sociology, health care, HIV/AIDS prevention…

The number of scientists at the institute consists of:

  + 05 Professors and Associate Professor. Doctors

  + 12 Doctors, Masters.

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

Objectives

Through consulting and co-operating in implementing sustainable development projects in various sectors, CISDOMA’s activities are aiming at:

- Increasing income, improving the quality of life of poor and disadvantaged groups.

- Strengthening capacity of local organizations in planning of implementing programs on poverty reduction, especially in rural and mountainous, far and remote, ethnic minority areas of Vietnam.

Scope of activities:

To research and consult issues on socio-economic development of rural and mountainous areas in Vietnam and Southeast-Asia.

To consult strategy, policy, institution and law of the state in sustainable socio-economic development of rural and mountainous areas.

To implement the activities:

- Providing technical assistance, constructing feasibility study (F/S), conducting and implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects.

- Consulting, constructing, master plans on socio-economic development of rural and mountainous areas.

- Carrying out poverty reduction and sustainable development projects of rural and mountainous areas, especially in far and remote, ethnic minority areas of Vietnam.

- Cooperating implementation of projects on:

+ Gender, community development, dissemination and mobilization on health care, HIV/AIDS prevention.

+ Children issues.

+ Bio-agriculture in socio-economic life.

+ Planning and rural development.

+ Planning and natural forest resource development.

+ Community forestry.

+ Prospecting and exploiting water resource.

+ Clean water and environment hygiene.

+ New and renewable energy.

+ Traditional handicraft development.

+ Educating, training and developing human resources.

+ Vocational training for the poor youth and disabled

+ Sociological and ethnological survey

+ Indigenous cultural heritage conservation

+ National and international science workshops on relating issues

+ Providing experts in various fields such as: agriculture, energy, environment, forestry, fishery, rural development project, clean water prospection and exploitation, gender, community development, health care, HIV/AIDS prevention, social criminal prevention and vocational guidance for youth, cultural heritage conservation, sociology, ethnology…

PROJECTS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED:

1/ “Education and training of gender awareness, reproductive health and provision of bookshelf to women of Trung Luong and Dong Thinh communes, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province”

Duration: January 2000 – April 2000

Main partner: Women Union of Dinh Hoa district- Thai Nguyen province

Funding source: Gender Equality Fund of Swedish - Danish

2/ VIE-98-004 “Administrative Reforms”

Duration: 2000 - 2003

Main Partner:  Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD)

Funding source:  UNDP

CISDOMA was responsible for training.

3/ "Rural Energy Assessment" 

Duration: 2001-2006

Location: This project is realized in 04 countries of 03 continents: Vietnam, Tanzania, Honduras and Bolivia.

Funding source: ETC of Netherlands

 

4/ “Review and Opportunity Assessment (ROA) to the North- Central Renewable Energy Project - RENC”

Project duration: 1999 – 2002      

Duration for ROA:  Feb 2003 to April 2003

Location: Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue Provinces

Funding source: Netherlands Development Organization (SNV Vietnam)

5/ " Restoration and development of the traditional handicraft weaving of Pathen ethnic women in Tan Trinh commune, Bac Quang district (now Quang Binh district), Ha Giang province”

Duration: 2001 – 2005

Location: Tan Bac commune (Quang Binh district) and Tan Trinh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province

Funding source: WB, Ford Motor Company and Ethnic Minority Working Group (EMWG)

6/ “Building Biogas models at village scale to ethnic minority people in mountainous areas”

Location:  Pac Po village, Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province

Duration: May 2003 - February 2004

Funding source: PSD of Francophonie

7/ “Building engineering of living water supply in combination with rice field irrigation for Nung  ethnic people of Lung Chung village, Quang Minh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province"

Location:  Lung Chung village, Quang Minh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province

Duration: October 2001- December 2003

Funding source: ASAS of Australia-AusAID

8/ "Application of solar power to mountainous areas and ethnic minority in Vietnam"

loan granted by Finland Government

Location: 12 provinces in which     

+ 7 Northern mountainous  provinces : Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An 

+ 3 central provinces:   Quang Binh, Quang Tri & Quang Nam.

+ 2 west highland provinces:  Dak  Lak and Gia Lai

Duration: January 2001 -  December 2007

9/ “Organizing contest on learning HIV/AIDS prevention and care to youth assault of Quang Binh district, Ha Giang province

Duration: 2004

Funding source: World Bank

10/ “Training on knowledge for AIDS prevention and care to Cao Bang women union”
